June 12, 2012 Elliott Serrano, For RedEye

Yesterday the folks behind the popular Japanese character Domo made a really cool announcement. I really like it when the geeky things we enjoy are used to help those in need. Check out the following press release for the 411 on what they're doing, then catch up with me at the bottom of the post for yet another fun contest!:  Big Tent Entertainment Gives Back Through Licensing Deal with Good Work(s) Makes A Difference®.  Trend Driven Jewelry, Accessories and T-shirts Offer Domo Fashion with a Purpose- Available this Fall to Support Homeless Families

New York, NY, June 11, 2012 – Ever-popular viral sensation Domo is now lending his loveable persona to a good cause. Branded entertainment company Big Tent Entertainment announced today a licensing agreement with Good Work(s) Make A Difference® for a collection of fashionable, inspirational, and empowering Domo merchandise that promotes doing Good Work(s) while giving back to the community. The campaign featuring Domo will help raise funds for Path Ventures, an organization that provides long-term housing solutions for homeless families. This fall, an upscale, fashion driven line of exclusive Domo products will support Good Work(s) Make A Difference’s philanthropic efforts. Stylish cause-driven t-shirts with inspirational themes to believe, hope, dream and make a difference will be available in specialty and high-end boutiques as well as online at http://www.goodworksmakeadifference.com/. Additionally, fashionable bracelets, necklaces, and rings made of leather and metal for both men and women will also be part of the collection that both spreads and elevates humanitarianism.

The new Good Work(s) Make A Difference® Domo-inspired collection ties into the company’s “fashion with a purpose” motto that will speak to trendsetters, tastemakers and Domo fans. Good Work(s) Make A Difference’s unique and beautifully crafted products which communicate commitment to the oneness of humanity have been praised by some of the world’s biggest fashion magazines as well as adorned by celebrities such as Steven Tyler, Halle Berry, Eli Manning, and Demi Moore to name a few.
Each year, Good Work(s) Make A Difference selects a different charitable organization to support. For 2012, Good Work(s) Make A Difference is focused on helping 12 homeless families move into completely furnished permanent housing with Path Ventures. 25% of net profits from the Domo collection will be donated to Path Ventures to help these families in need.

“We’ve seen the positive impact Good Work(s) has had on the community and hold them in the highest regard,” said Rich Collins, CEO, Big Tent Entertainment. “Knowing their commitment to quality products and cause-related campaigns, we couldn’t be any prouder to have Domo involved in this initiative.”  ”Good Work(s) is super excited to have Domo make a difference with us. Domo will be our first ambassador to support Good Work(s) and will be entering our world of fashion with a purpose,” said Helena Cho, Owner, Good Work(s) Makes a Difference. “I cannot wait to show our specialty and upscale partners our new collection with Domo.”

As the reigning poster child for personalized, user-generated content, Domo has found a home as a pop culture icon within the online viral community with hundreds of thousands of fan-made images, websites and videos posted to websites such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Flickr, among others. Now more than a decade later, the lovable fuzzy brown character’s cult status continues to grow with product flying off retail shelves..

GOOD WORK(S) ANNOUNCES “TOOLS FOR SCHOOL”; TO PROVIDE BACKPACKS AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO LOW INCOME STUDENTS

By: Manny Montenegro

Good Work(s) is kicking off 2013 with a fresh vision and new ideas for the upcoming year. These upcoming months are huge for us– not only are we expanding our reach slowly across the nation, but we have set our sights on planning larger, grander charitable projects. Exciting times!

We are happy to announce that our charitable campaign for this year is “Tools for School”– an ambitious goal inspired to provide backpacks and school supplies for 10,000 low-income students across the nation. I know for our founder, Helena Cho, this goal is very near and dear to her– as a mother, she personally understands the importance a good education can have on the development of children. Speaking for the team at Good Work(s), we are also very enthusiastic about the prospect of helping our young neighbors, family and friends achieve and do well in class. With the support of Good Work(s) fans and friends, I know that we will continue the tradition of giving and positive energy that our brand stands for.

Throughout the year, we hope to bring you updates about our campaign, and give you an inside look into the charity events we organize. You’ll also get a sneak peek of new additions to our collection, along with pictures of the new celeb supporters we gain along the way. Here’s to an amazing year!

Without further adieu…..here are my favorites for this week!

I am in love with these stylish and inspiring wrap bracelets by momprenuer Helena Cho. Each colorful bracelet by Good Work(s) Make a Difference is embossed with a number of uplifting and motivating phases such as “forgive,” “strength,” be aware,” “faith,” “freedom,” “accept diversity.” As someone who strongly believes in the power of positivity, as soon as I laid my eyes on my friend’s Good Work(s) bracelet, I knew I had to have one — or two!
